A deep theological question...

A woman I work with is on record as saying that the Bible frowns on females wearing pants. According to her, they should wear skirts–shapeless, preferably denim skirts, to judge from her wardrobe. Now, I don’t go to church and never have, so I was hoping maybe one of my readers might be able to help me here. Does the Bible really take an anti-pants stance? Did they even have pants back in the Biblical era? Or is there some verse that urges women to dress modestly and my co-worker (or her sect) just interprets this as an injunction against pants?

If anything knows anything more about this, please tell me. Thanks!
